Christmas 2008

We had a most relaxing and enjoyable Christmas this year! We spent Christmas Eve at the Woods' house with Brian's family. It was wonderful! We watched movies and played games and ate and drank and ate and drank. Walter and Grant were occupied with Tyler and their aunts and uncles and grandparents. sigh... It was heavenly.

On Christmas day we woke up around 7 and actually had to convince Walter and Grant to go see if Santa had visited our house the night before. They like Santa from afar, but want no part of him in our house or anywhere else in person. They were pretty scared of the idea that Santa had been in our house... terrifying, isn't it?
But once we got them out to the family room and told them that they could finally open the gifts that they had been trying to open for the last few weeks, things went very smoothly. They weren't as interested in the gifts as they were the opening. Then once all of the gifts were opened, they wanted more, more, more.
Luckily we had been given a distraction: an invitation to our neighbors' house across the street for breakfast. This was fun. We stuffed ourselves with breakfast casseroles and grits and donuts, then we had a Wii bowling competition. I came in second place. Woo hoo!
After naps we returned to Lauren, Kevin and Tyler's house. We watched another movie, opened gifts, and ate the most delicious beef tenderloin that Kevin cooked in his big green egg. I think I drank a lot.
Walter and Grant walked away with some good loot... clothes and plenty of toys to keep them busy for the next year (or at least until their birthday!).
Thank you so much for a wonderful Christmas, Lauren and Kevin! We didn't do a thing but relax and enjoy, while you all did all the work. What a fun Christmas!
